Imphal: A multi-utility park, developed in the Nongmeibung Primary School complex, Nongmeibung in Imphal East, which was amalgamated to Thamchet High School, Nongmeibung, in 2019, was opened on Saturday.
The multi-utility park was handed over by Wangkhei AC MLA Th. Arunkumar to Nongmeibung Chakpram Leirak Development Committee (NCLDC), during its 5th foundation day.
The locals lauded the MLA for resurrecting the multi-utility park from the then school campus which has been a waste land and dumping site since the last few years.
Arunkumar said constructing the park at the then school campus is not an act of betraying the education sector. The school was officially shut down on good note considering the low strength of students, he added.
Highlighting the emphasis on rejuvenation of drainage system to prevent frequent floods in Wangkhei AC, besides the blacktopping works of all the lanes, he announced that the office of the Wangkhei MLA is widely opened to all to redress any genuine grievances.
Arunkumar also informed that the water facilities will no longer be an issue in the constituency once the Chingkhei Ching Water Supply project is successful as there are already 78 reservoirs in the constituency.
He also promised an electric crematorium in Wangkhei AC very soon.
The programme was also attended by chairman of NCLDC Chakpram Rupachandra and president of Nongmeibung Eastern Students’ Club N. Indrajit Singh as presidium members.
