’57 tourist places spotted to improve Manipur tourism sector’

Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh, who is also Tourism minister said the future economy of Manipur will be Tourism and the government has spotted 57 tourist places to promote tourism sector.

Biren informed this in the House on Thursday during the ongoing 3rd session of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly clarifying the policy cut motion raised by opposition MLAs K. Meghachandra Singh and Th. Lokeshwar Singh in the demand for Tourism grant.

Leader of the House, Biren Singh informed the House the achievement of Manipur which was published in a national media report. Based on the report, Biren informed that Manipur is in top among the north eastern states in tourism sector and stands in 21st position among the entire states of India in which Tamil Nadu stands on the top position in the country.

He informed that to promote Tourism of the state, the present government increased Sangai festival site to 15 spots at various places inside the state. He said the government will set up tourist spot at Jessami where the first battle with the Japanese in Indian soil was fought with the British.

Clarifying the policy cut motion on account of the delay work for road connectivity, water facility and power supply at Gwarok Mahadev temple complex, Biren said the government will take necessary steps to complete the pending works and others.
