Poppy cultivation destructed, 27 huts set ablaze

Imphal: Continuing the Poppy destruction drive in Manipur under its War on Drugs campaign a team of Chandel District Police and 8th MR Leikun, Forest department. Chandel along with 15th Assam Rifles destructed 95 acres of poppy cultivation at Khongtal hill range and burned down 20 huts, on Tuesday.

Another 45 acres of poppy cultivation was destructed and burned down seven huts on the next day by the team.

A combined team of district police Kangpokpi, MPTC, 6th IRB, Forest department, NAB and NCB destructed around 20 acres of illegal poppy plantation at the adjoining areas of Thingsan and Leisan(Tanru) under Saikul Police station on Wednesday.
