Drug peddler nabbed with Heroin worth Rs 1 crore in Manipur

Imphal: ​Loktak Battalion of Headquarters 27 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) in a joint operation with Manipur Police Commando team apprehended a drug peddler along with Heroin worth approximately Rs1 crore at Torbung Awang Leikai Community Hall, Churachandpur District of Manipur on Thursday.

​Based on specific input received from the Battalion’s intelligence team the troops of Assam Rifles launched a joint operation with Police Commando which led to the successful apprehension of the drug peddler. On subsequent interrogation and frisking a total quantity of 1.195 Kg of Heroin No. 4 worth approximately Rs 1 crore was recovered from the individual’s possession, the Assam Rifles said on Friday.

​The apprehended drug peddler (identity not revealed) was handed over to Phoujakchao Ikhai Police station for further investigation after following due course of formalities, it added.
