21.6 Tons of Betel nuts recovered in Manipur

Imphal: Shangshak Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) foiled cross-border smuggling of contrabands in Kamjong District on Thursday.

MVCP was established at Makan to K Asang Khullen route. The MVCP spotted suspicious movement of three DI trucks with some suspicious items. On thorough search, contraband items which include Betel Nuts (supari) were recovered. The vehicles were mov to Imphal for further black marketting. A total of 21.6 Tons of Betel nuts valued at Rs 64.8 Lakh was recovered.

The recovered items and apprehended individuals have been handed over to Customs Office Imphal, for further investigation and legal action, the Assam Rifles said on Friday.
