Assam Rifles foils timber smuggling

Imphal: Tengnoupal  Battalion under aegis of HQ IGAR (South) foiled smuggling of Khangra Wood (A1 Class Timber) in General Area Saibol of Tengnoupal District on Tuesday.

The Assam Rifles troops recovered two vehicles loaded with Khangra Wood along with 4 individuals trying to smuggle the Illegal timber from General Area Saibol. The seized Timber was evaluated to be worth  of Rs 53.08 lakh, the Assam Rifles said on Friday.

The timber along with the apprehended individuals and vehicles was handed over to Forest department, Tengnoupal for further legal action, it added.
