Two vehicle lifters – cop, VDF volunteer nabbed 

Imphal: A Manipur Police constable and a volunteer of Village Defence Force (serving under Manipur Police) have been arrested for lifting vehicle on Tuesday.

The duo were identified as  T. Lunkhomang Haokip, 37, son of T. Thangzangam Haokip a resident of New Boljang, Churachandpur district, police constable No.0902143, Churachandpur District Police presently posted at Henglep Police Station and K.Siethanglien, son of K. Seilenthang of D. Leikot Village, Churachandpur, at present residing at Khamenlok village, Senapati district, VDF No.020333 of Churachandpur district presently posted at Reserve Line Churachandpur District Police.

They were apprehended when Bishnupur Police acted on an input that some unknown vehicle lifter had stolen one black Bolero jeep from Imphal Area and drove towards Churachandpur district along Tiddim road.

During frisking and checking, one Bolero Storm black in colour bearing registration number MN01W8737 and i10 sportz bearing registration No.MN02A9884 came  from Imphal side in full speed towards Keinou area in a suspicious manner. On seeing the suspicious nature, the team tried to stop the vehicle for verification but they tried to escaped and proceeded towards Churachandpur side along Tiddim road. Immediately, the team chased after the vehicles and followed a hot pursuit to detain for verification of the suspects, a police report said.

The vehicles were able to detain at Bishnupur Police station gate after the hot pursuit and conducted preliminary verification at the spot.

The individuals ( the cop and the VDF volunteer) driving the vehicles revealed the police that they had stolen the  Bolero Storm from the gate of Medical Oxygen Service located at Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Mamang Leikai,Imphal.

They further revealed that the i10 car is used commission of the said crime.

They were arrested and seized their belongings.
