25 acres of Poppy cultivation destroyed

Imphal: In continuation of mass poppy destruction conducted by the District Police Kangpokpi, a combined team of District police Kangpokpi, 6th IRB, NAB, Forest department and MPTC destructed  around 25 acres of illegal poppy plantation at Thingphai and Leisan (Tanru) along Iril river (adjoining areas of Kangpokpi and Ukhrul district), under Saikul Police station.

The destruction drive was conducted on Tuesday as a part of Manipur government’s War on Drugs campaign.

“Well done Kangpokpi teams,” chief minister N. Biren Singh said on his Facebook post.

“This war will continue till the end, will eradicate all illegal drugs. I know some are deathly against me but I will not surrender,” Biren said.
