Locals demand to book culprit involved in hit and run case

Imphal: Locals of Singjamei Wangma Torban Kshertri Leikai on Tuesday staged a one-day sit-in demanding to book the culprit(s) involved in hit and run case of Kshetrimayum Rajesh (Naoba), who has been undergoing treatment at ICU, Shija Hospital, Imphal.
One of the protestors, RK Rani Devi told reporters that the incident was occurred during the intervening night of March 4 and 5 at Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai near NRL oil pump. While Rajesh was driving along the national highway-2 (Imphal-Moreh) one unknown four wheeler hit him and fled from the spot. Since then Rajesh has been undergoing treatment at ICU, Shija Hospital, she added.
The culprit involved during the incident has been at large. She appealed those who were involved during the incident to reach the family members of the injured and to extend assistance for his treatment, she added.
Rani said the police has been trying to nab the culprit and the family members of the injured demanded to nab the culprit immediately. She further appealed the state government to extend necessary assistance for the injured family.
Protestors raised slogans “We demand strict investigation over Naoba alias Rajesh’s hit and run case”, “Bring out the vehicle involved in accident of Rajesh”, “We strongly condemned the hit and run case of Rajesh” and others.
