AR apprehends man with pistol, drug peddler

Imphal: Churachandpur Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) in a joint operation with Sangaikot Police apprehended an overground worker (OGW) of  Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) group and a Drug peddler at Sangaikot, Churachandpur District on Monday.

Based on specific input, the troops of Assam Rifles along with Sangaikot Police launched a MVCP and during detailed checking of a passengers and vehicles, one individual was found with a .22mm pistol and one lady was found with approx 2.5 kg Opium.

Both the accused were apprehended. One .22 mm foreign made pistol along with four live rounds and a magzine were recovered from the OGW and 2.519 Kgs of Opium with approximate cost of Rs 3,00,000 was recovered from the drug peddler, the Assam Rifles said on Tuesday.

The apprehended accused and recovered items were handed over to Churachandpur Police station for further investigation.
