Woman nabbed with 2.5 kg Opium in Manipur

Imphal: A team of Sangaikot Police station and a team of 36 AR team of Sangaikot post apprehended a woman drug trafficker at the police station gate on Monday.

The drug trafficker was identified as Nengrosenem Kipgen, wife of Lunminthang Kipgen of Selshi village, Sangaikot SD, Churachandpur district, Manipur.

She was nabbed when the security teams conducted frisking and checking following an information of transport of contraband substance from Lailoiphai towards Churachandpur.

She came on a pasenger vehicle. The lady acted in a suspicious manner and on checking her a white cloth wrapped around her waist was found and it was suspected to be Raw Opium, a police report said.

The opium weighed 2.519 kg. Spot sealing of the contraband was done in the presence of EM and other witnesses and the lady was arrested, it added.
