Huge quantity liquor seized from 6 dealers

Imphal: Imphal West District Police of Manipur on Wednesday seized large quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor and distilled country liquor (DIC) from the possession of six liquor marketers at Imphal city near the Polo ground where the game of Polo originated.

The liquors were recovered during random checking at the different hotels and shops located at Polo Ground area, Paona Bazar.

They were recovered from the possession of Gairu Riamei, 35, of New Keithelmanbi (salesman of wine shop owned by Khamba), Robinson Maring, 24, Phunal Maring, Thoubal district (salesman of wine shop owned by Boicha), Ningthoujam Premjit Singh, 26, of Phayeng (salesman of the wine shop owned by Ingojao), Soyam Deben Singh, 60, of Polo Ground Maning (owner of a wine shop), Alung Pamei, 19, of Tousem, Tamenglong district (salesman of wine shop owned by Tomba) and Nongmeikapam Rabichandra Singh, 53, of Singjamei Kshetri Leikai, (salesman of wine shop owned by Laishram Ibemhal).

The seized liquors were Old Monk Rum (750 ml), 6 bottles; Old Monk Rum (375 ml), 3 bottles; Old Monk Rum (180 ml), 6 bottles; Mc Dowell’s No.1 (375 ml), 5 bottles; Mc Dowell’s No.1 (180 ml), 13 bottles; Royal Stag (750 ml), 2 bottles; Royal Stag (375 ml), 2 bottles;  Royal Stag (180 ml), 11 bottles; OC Blue (750 ml), 2 bottles; OC Blue (375 ml), 1 bottle; OC Blue (180 ml), 6 bottles; Royal Challenge (375 ml), 2 bottles; Royal Challenge (180 ml), 2 bottles; Blender’s Pride (375 ml), 1 bottle; Blender’s Pride (180 ml), 4 bottles; Sterling Reserve B7 (375 ml), 3 bottles; Scholar (180 ml), 2 bottles; Iconiq White (180 ml),  2 bottles; Oaksmith (180 ml), 2 bottles; AC Black (180 ml), 2 bottles; Royal Green (180 ml), I bottle; Magic Moment (375 ml), 2 bottles; Magic Moment (180 ml), 3 bottles; Oppa (360 ml), 1 bottle; Corona Extra (355 ml), = 2 bottles; Breezer (275 ml), 2 bottles; Kingfisher (500 ml), 34 cans; Tuborg (500 ml), 16 cans; Myanmar Beer (500 ml), 9 cans; Chang (500 ml), cans; Old Monk Beer (500 ml), 4 cans; Budweiser (500 ml), 2 cans; Justus (500 ml), 5 cans; Maximus (500 ml), 6 cans; DIC Liquor (1 litre), 27 bottles; DIC Liquor (1/2 litre),  29 bottles;.and DIC Liquor (plastic packet), 40 litres.

The seized liquors and persons were handed over to Lamphel Excise for further process, a police report said.

Also, 42 persons who were consuming the liquors in the shop were also detained and handed over to City Police station for further process, it added.
